Tips
Learning the hard way
So you Want to restore your mgb...
bullet Wait until body is painted before applying Waxoyl to sills, fenders and chassis. It may affect the paint in the spray booth.
bullet Use plenty of heat while applying wrinkle coat or you may have to do it twice like I did.
bullet Watch the budget and get estimates from painter (or other jobs) before buying goodies for your MG.
bullet Don't leave ignition key on while charging battery. It will melt the ignition circuit.
bullet Take care to align body panels precisely before welding and reduce body finishing labor.
bullet Protect yourself with ear muffs, eye protection, dust and vapor masks etc.
bullet Take extra care not to scratch windshield when refinishing frame.
bullet Find a source for low cost tools i.e. Harbor Freight.
bullet Keep a clean work area when working with canvas top. Use Raggtopp cleaner and protectant.
bullet Find Internet sources for useful technical information and parts.
bullet Before polishing windscreen frame, take the time to sand away all of the anodized finish.
bullet Be prepared:  Allow extra time and patience for new body repair panels that don't fit properly.
bullet Install new wire harness carefully. The colors may be quite different on the new harness. Examine the new harness carefully and compare with the original if possible. Label terminals with something like a P-Touch label maker and insure that you can do it over if necessary. An enlarged wiring diagram makes the job easier. Mark unused wires for easy identification.
bullet Find a wife who will support your insanity.
